CBD, or cannabidiol, is quickly gaining in popularity, and for good reason. This compound is the non-psychoactive cousin of THC, the euphoria-inducing cannabinoid. To date, we’re still discovering more and more cannabinoids, but for now, THC and CBD are the most well-known (and studied) of them all.
CBD has proven promising in potentially helping those who suffer from anxiety, chronic pain, depression, and more. Personally, CBD allows me to relax immensely; I feel my muscles loosen up, mind declutter, and overall stress levels lower. The best part? I can enjoy it throughout the day without worrying about getting too high.
As previously mentioned, CBD is non-psychoactive, which means depending on the ratio, you get to keep a clear head, sans paranoia or short-term forgetfulness that we often equate with THC overload. In fact, many have reported that cannabidiol can even help counteract those uneasy feelings of being “too high”, and may help bring you back to a more clear state of mind.
In regards to ratios, you’ll often see two numbers when purchasing CBD. These numbers represent the amount of THC to CBD in that particular product, and the higher the CBD, the less psychoactivity you’ll experience from it. Some common ratios you’ll see for CBD:THC are 1:1, 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 18:1, and 20:1. However, the ratios vary depending on the cultivar and strain. Everyone reacts differently to cannabis – it’s a deeply personal experience – but typically, once you hit 18:1 and up, the chance of experiencing a euphoric high is less common. However, the anxiety- and inflammation-reducing benefits still remain!
